The RATE AI Architecture

At the core of RATE AI framework lies the Risk Exposure Index (REI) and Autonomy of Decision Index (ADI) a forward-looking indicator system designed to measure the distance between an operational AI system and the threshold at which institutional discretion may be lost on the one hand and the level of autonomy of decision infrastructure on the other hand. The level of both indexes generate the RATE AI rating bands (AAA-D).

RATE AI operates across five levels:

• AI Systems (both not embodied and embodied)

• Corporate AI Deployment

• Industry Sectors

• Jurisdictions

• Global AI Infrastructure

This approach allows organizations, policymakers and researchers to better understand how AI-related risk exposure evolve continuously and relentlessly across time, geography and institutional contexts.
